Dreadful
Recollection of an Unforeseen Attack
“It was 1:20 AM. I was tired, cold
and alone. As I stood under a bright light in the metro subway
platform for the last subway train to take me home, I was
thinking about my huge pile of homework and my work schedule for
next week. I blinked and a sudden move from behind me comes
towards me along with a strong chemical smell. I physically
respond...#!%@!... My heart pounds fast and hard, out of my
chest, realizing my attacker is on the floor with a broken nose
and choking on his own blood. I ran upstairs to call for help.
Although this happened more than 10 years ago, feels like it
happened yesterday. Everyday, I rewind the memories of when I
was attacked by a large 6’+ man who attempted to suffocate me
with a toxic poison in a paper brown bag. I will always remember
how that one effective strike saved my life that night”.

C.O.R. Self Defense Instructors:
Why
C.omplete O.ffense. R.esponse is important to you and your loved
ones?
MURDER. Every day four women die in this country as a result
of domestic violence. That's approximately 1,400 women a year,
according to the FBI. The number of women who have been murdered
by their intimate partners is greater than the number of
soldiers killed in the Vietnam War.
SEXUAL ASSAULT. Every year approximately 132,000 women report
that they have been victims of rape or attempted rape, and more
than half of them knew their attackers. It's estimated that two
to six times that many women are raped, but do not report it.
Every year 1.2 million women are forcibly raped by their current
or former male partners, some more than once. THE
TARGETS. Women are 10 times more likely than men to be
victimized by an intimate.
How can C.O.R
save our life and be beneficial?
Complete Offense Response training. To help other’s prepare
both physically and mentally to overcome violent attacks. We
believe that change starts with correct knowledge. Everyone has
the ability to know C.O.R. with the right teaching in the right
environment.
If we want our children to be safe then we must set an
example that they can follow.
Who can do it?
Anyone can swing their arms
and lift their knees can participate in the C.O.R training
program.
Self defense system used: Retzev (means continuous movement)
Retzev isn't a martial art, it's an approach. It's a way of
doing things, not a collection of techniques. The body can only
move in so many ways. A punch is a punch, a kick is a kick, and
a submission is a submission, no matter what style uses it. The
difference is in approach, not curricula. Retzev uses only a
handful of movements that can be found just about anywhere, but
its success lies in its single minded, galvanized purpose, which
is to reverse the predator-prey relationship immediately by
launching a brutal, overwhelming, momentous counterattack until
the threat no longer exists.
Retzev is all about turning the tables on the attacker. We
teach you to become the predator, to turn the would-be attacker
into the target instead of the weapon. Once roles have been
explosively reversed, constant, aggressive, overwhelming motion
is used to eliminate the threat.

More about Retzev
In the words of David Kahn, a Kravist with the Israeli Krav
Maga Federation, Retzev is "the backbone of modern Israeli krav
maga which teaches you to move your body instinctively without
thinking about your next move." He defines it as "A seamless,
overwhelming counterattack using strikes, takedowns, throws,
joint locks, chokes, or other offensive actions combined with
evasive action. It is quick and decisive movement merging all
aspects of krav maga. Defensive movements transition
automatically into offensive movements to neutralize the attack,
affording your opponent little time to react." - (From Advanced
Krav Maga, by David Kahn).
Although Retzev is related to krav maga in objective and
approach, and as in the words of David Kahn "is the backbone of
modern Israeli krav maga," it is NOT krav maga. Retzev stands on
its own merits. The success of krav maga, in America as well as
internationally, is strong evidence that krav meets a need that
traditional martial arts have failed to fill, namely effective
and quickly learned survival skills for the modern streets ...
... but like many martial arts, krav maga has become
complicated by adding more techniques than necessary, and has
joined the arena of organizational bickering and political
agendas. One organization argues with another, which argues with
another, which in turn tries to discredit the other.
Practitioners of Retzev want no part in this, and feel that
effective methods speak for themselves.
Retzev is not a form of fitness, but because it's based on
continuous, uninterrupted aggressive movement, ongoing training
in Retzev naturally makes you fit. In other words, although
fitness isn't the goal of training, it is an unavoidable
byproduct of it. We have a corny (but apt) phrase to describe
our fitness philosophy: "Fit Happens." Here's another one,
equally corny: "Getting fit while learning to hit."
Retzev should always evolve. We should always update what we
do in light of new information. Curricula should never become
fixed. But just adding things because they are new, or they seem
effective, is not the point. Everything that Retzev uses must be
streamlined and tested, or it will end up as nothing more than
another collection of half-assed techniques.
